FROM MY HEART TO YOURS

Something always seems to get lost this time of year. As the days grow short and darkness closes in we tend to lose the little things, like tiny parts to a board game or last year’s mittens. Right now, it feels like our country is off course, certainly, with the pandemic, and a contentious, drawn-out election process. But there’s something more. We’re losing hope.

The strength we carry within.

Hope arises from knowing who we are and what we can do, when times are tough. Our bodies pick up on these signals before we’re even consciously aware of them.

“What have you been up to?” I asked my client.

My hands have already gone to the nape of her neck, kneading, soothing, releasing tension.

“I hurt my shoulder, reaching overhead to get something off the top shelf,” she explains. “Now I’ve got this wicked headache.”

There is a pause. “You’ve found it, that’s the spot…ooh, that’s better.”

We all need to be heard, and helped.

We need touch. One of the biggest challenges I’ve encountered in 2020 is reaching out to those who can’t access in-person therapies. But how do you send love, when touch is “off limits?” By remembering that the heart has no limits. Check out our website, to see how HeartMath and our other therapies can help you reconnect. We’re here for you now, more than ever.

Hold on to the positives.

As we head into the holidays, hold on to your core beliefs, that part of you, deep down, that can weather any challenge. Put more love into your voice, into your emails and texts, and especially video contact. Let’s remember to hold onto the positives that have emerged from this year of uncertainty:

  • The fact that those you love, love you still.

  • Your ability to smile in the face of any difficulty and make someone else feel better.

  • The realization that the more you help others, the better you feel.

  • Going back to the basics will help keep your immune system strong and resilient.

A few practical tips:

De-Stress. You have the ability to let go of stress, even now, when life as we know it is threatened by previously-unimagined stressors. This one skill saves lives, every day. Take a deep breath, and let go.

Eat Well. Make a conscious choice to eat healthy foods. By these daily choices, you affirm your self worth as one who loves and is loved in return.

Keep Moving. Walk, run, jump, dance. Whatever you can do, do it now. Movement re-activates your immune system and keeps you going. That’s how your body fights off any infection. No amount of hype, gossip and speculation from profit-seeking media can change this basic fact. Your body was designed to survive and overcome infection and disease. You can do it.

Mental Wellbeing. Keep an eye on your mindset and do things that make you happy. Watch silly cartoons with the kids on Saturday mornings. Hold (online or in-person) dance parties with those you love. Try your best to limit negativity; it impairs health.

Sleep Well. Having done everything you can during the day, turn off your devices, get cozy, and let go of the day. Whisper to yourself as you nestle into your pillow: “Deep sleep is my superpower.”

Take Care of You. Reach for a sense of purpose, every day, to heal and to love. When you make time to be there for yourself, you can be there for others. You can do this.

Please be assured, we are here for you, with healing therapies and great affection. By all means, reach out and connect. Check out our website to see what we can do for you, for each other. We want to help you thrive.
